Silent Podcast Mishaps, Funny Car Stories, Viral Indie Games, and Miami Mall Updates
Imagine botching your mic settings and producing a silent symphony of podcasting gold. That's me this week, but fear not, we still have a show packed with the warm, weird embrace you've come to expect. From caffeine-fueled post-conference tales that almost had me believe in the reality of travel hallucinations, to the kind of automotive adventures that restore your faith in humanity, we're sharing it all. Plus, I'll spill the beans on how a red Mustang and a lunch lady—yours truly—became the bridge between worlds at a community school.
Strap in as we take a detour through the indie gaming scene, highlighting a viral hit where alien scrap hunts and teammate pranks are the norm. Lethal Company has got us talking about how games like these are reshaping the landscape, relying on creativity over big budgets. And for those of you who can't get enough of exploratory adventures, we've got the lowdown on upcoming titles that promise to whisk you away from hauntingly immersive VR experiences to whimsical sandbox escapades. Just a heads up though, not all of these gems will be landing on your favorite console.
But the real twisty turn may just be the Miami Mall Incident—tall creatures, police intrigue, potential cover-ups—sounds like a storyline ripped straight from a game, but it's all too real. We're dissecting the mysterious occurrence that's got everyone buzzing and the odd connection to coordinates in frosty Antarctica. And if that's not enough, we're also looking at indie games that could become the next viral sensation, proving that sometimes, the glitches and the pranks are exactly what the gaming world needs. So, buckle up, listeners. This ride through the eccentric and extraordinary is one you won't want to miss.
My Ford Focus. You could push the pedal to the ground and it wouldn't go anywhere. You would literally push the gas pedal all the way to the floor, the engine would rev up and it would go RING. He's over here whispering. Are we gonna start the show? Yeah, let's start right now. Do we have to start the show With?
Speaker 2:whispering? No, I guess not. We should probably tell them what happened, what.
Speaker 1:We should probably tell them why we're recording a day late.
Speaker 2:Well, last time I muted it accidentally.
Speaker 1:Yeah again, everything that goes wrong is my fault.
Speaker 2:Is your computer your program-. The producer has to mess with the settings when you're trying to get the mic right, I'm the copilot that's calling into the safety bar.
Speaker 1:So, anyway, this is coming out on a Wednesday, which is today, because yesterday we tried to record and I was working with the microphones and again messed up a setting. I had a previous setting where I could monitor the microphones. The problem was the setting also muted the output, so we recorded an entire show of dead air.
Speaker 1:More like we didn't record an entire show, so it was an hour-long recording and it was all just silence and I wanted to throw my computer out the window. But we're back, we made it back, we're here, we're still weird and we've got a lot to talk about today. I've got a lot of things to bring you and a lot of really cool, interesting stories. But before we get to that, how you doing today, jess, I'm very weird. I personify weird. You're personify weird, I personify weird. How's your week been Weird? Has it been pretty good? Yeah, for the most part. Yeah, yeah, totally.
Speaker 1:I'll tell you what happened to me. I was at a conference yesterday and I was there all day. Now, mind you, I had woken up at six in the morning, so I started off the day tired. I tried to go back to sleep Exquisitely failed because I was only asleep for about 20, 30 minutes. And my body I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but like when you try to go to sleep but you're not asleep long enough, so you just wake up tired yes, I don't know if you've had that all the time.
Speaker 1:You've had that, okay, cool.
Speaker 2:My sleep is very right, so you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1:So, I mean.
Speaker 2:I got a cat smack me in the face all the time.
Speaker 1:So I woke up tired and proceeded to continue my entire day with that same level of tiredness, so it didn't matter how much caffeine I intake.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it didn't matter how much food I ate. I was tired the entire day. Was it worth it? Yes, I went to this conference, had a blast, learned a lot about my business and where I needed to go with it, took a lot of notes, met a lot of awesome people. At the end of the day, I had to drive back home. Now, this conference is a few hours away from where I'm at, so I had to drive back home and I was still tired, so that didn't matter. I'm not spending money for a hotel when I'm within driving distance of my house.
Speaker 1:It just doesn't make sense to me. So I'm like, okay, we can do this. So I load up on caffeine for like the fourth time. Actually, you know what? I was tired of caffeine, I decided not to do the caffeine and I went with water and some hydration.
Speaker 1:Yes, I did get some snacks and we did have dinner. So that helped, really helped. Another thing that helped me which I didn't have a lot of, which I should have had a little bit more of probably was protein, because if you eat protein without the carbs, it tends to keep you awake. So I was like man not carbs, you burn energy. But for me personally, if I eat too many carbs, I tend to zonk, I tend to fall on my face.
Speaker 2:Beef jerky, what probably are.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So I loaded up on snacks and whatnot and I made it home. But I want to tell you, before I got home I was hallucinating by the time I got home. I hallucinate all the time and so I was at the point of tiredness which I probably shouldn't have been on the road, but I was. But nobody was on the road. So don't worry, I didn't endanger anybody, nobody was on the road. I got home perfectly safe, made sure I was awake Every time I was. Every time I was tired, I stopped at a gas station, got out of the car and let the cold wake me right up. That'll do it. So it worked, made it home. Totally worth it. It was awesome. But that leads us to the first thing I want to talk about today, and that is we were talking about doing cars. We did record a section, but we both decided it was kind of too boring to leave in the show Because we were just talking about cars.
Speaker 2:And the last one. I pitched it like each car, like a salesman which was it was a fun section. It has 265 horsepower and come with that Right.
Speaker 1:But there was nowhere we could go with it. So we were like, how do we put cars into our show? Because we do a lot of funny and weird news.
Speaker 2:Just seemed well.
Speaker 1:Well, we decided today to do like some fun, inspiring, positive and also kind of funny and interesting car stories that people have experienced in real life. So we are going to go to that first. So you know what?
Speaker 2:Let's drive on over there.
Speaker 1:Let's drive on over there. I'm going to make my way to the computer, I'm going to talk about this and have some fun. So here we go. All right, so here we go. So the first one I thought was hilarious because we talked about the road trip and what I had to deal with yesterday. But that was also another reason why we couldn't record the show, because I was on the road and that wouldn't happen. So, um, so, for here, let's talk about this first story. This was posted in and now, if you want to follow along, this is called not always rightcom, and they have a section of funny and interesting car stories, and the first one is called take the first exit to kindness. You want to read the first one? You want, me sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, start there. I am visiting friends out of state and have rented a car. Since I don't drink, I am the designated driver for my friends when we go to a party. After dropping everyone off, I Get on the wrong freeway and and am immediately lost. Is this is before the time of smartphones and GPS? I pull over to the shoulder and call my roadside assistance provider.
Speaker 1:Let me, let me, I'll be the roadside assistance guy. Let me put you through the to the California Highway Patrol.
Speaker 2:She makes several attempts, but for some reason the call never goes through. Here, in the panic in my voice, she comes up with a plan B.
Speaker 1:Based on what you told me, you're actually near this office. I'm about to go off shift. Stay put and I'll find you. Are you serious? I can just At your young woman in a car alone at night in this part of the country. That's strange to you.
Speaker 2:Stay put, give me 10 minutes 10 minutes later, she rolled up, she guided me not only to the right freeway, but all the way to the correct freeway exit, and then, with a wave goodbye, she drove back into the night. I don't know about you, but I have.
Speaker 1:I have never contacted A roadside assistance person that nice.
Speaker 2:I Contacted one period.
Speaker 1:So so every roadside assistance person I've had they're like you know, stay calm, will get help to you, and then you're put on hold or they transfer your call or they'll be like hey, we're sending out a tow truck, just give them 10 minutes, or whatever.
Speaker 2:I guess I'm lucky in that sense.
Speaker 1:I've never had this was super cool to the fact that this person Not only helped her out and then there was nobody available, she got off work, went over and made sure she was okay. That was sick like we need more people like that in this world, for sure, lady. Yeah, that's one of the nicest ones I've ever seen so.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, she. Yeah, it was a lady, but man that was. I've never heard of that, so the fact that happened is really cool. This was posted on January 14th. That depends, did you say please. Is the title of this one here?
Speaker 2:we go. You be the mom this time, guess I guess.
Speaker 1:I guess there's only one line. So my mom and I are returning from a wedding about an hour from where we live. We're not familiar with area and it is pitch black, which doesn't help. My mom uses her phone to get directions back and uses voice instead of putting it in by hand. When she asked the phone to put the directions in, she calls it Alexa when it's actually Siri. When so she said. I want to said, to make sure you understand, it was a iPhone and she called it Alexa when they, when the whole thing is actually Siri. And so here's what happens we end up getting lost. Mom turns to me and goes do you think she was mad that I called her Alexa? She goes. I don't know why, but in that moment I thought it was hysterical. So not only did it work, siri gave them directions, but just the wrong one. See, now my phone is going off.
Speaker 2:Why?
Speaker 1:because he said yes, huh so just the wrong ones and they end up getting lost. That's hilarious dude, so make sure you call your device the right name where you might end up, isn't it?
Speaker 2:It's Android.
Speaker 1:I ain't got.
Speaker 2:Alexa on my phone, my Android. I'm maybe too old to.
Speaker 1:I don't know. I don't know. I thought it was like Samsung or Alexa was Amazon.
Speaker 2:Could be good me.
Speaker 1:I'm not sure it was a. It was in a lot of the androids.
Speaker 2:It's just like riding a bicycle in a video game is the title of the next one.
Speaker 1:Take her away.
Speaker 2:For my first couple of years of college, it wasn't unusual for me to go a whole month without ever getting behind the wheel of an actual car. I lived on campus, worked on campus. I worked a campus job and wrote a bus wherever I couldn't just walk. My roommate had a ps2 and a grand theft out of three. One day I was at home parents Allison was getting in the car to run an errand. After putting on the seatbelt and started the engine, I actually reached for the controller to drive the car. Not my proudest moment, but it forced me to stop long enough to establish a mental divide between driving in game and driving a real car. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1:I don't remember, but like a couple years ago, there were those news reports of the teens that like when they asked them, hey, why did you do these horrible things? They were like, well, grand theft auto made me do it, or whatever Bro there's a difference.
Speaker 1:There's a difference between playing a video game in real life, get a grip. That's hilarious, though, because all right. This has happened to me, not in the same respect, but I'll tell you what happens. I have sometimes Tried to get in the house using my car key. There are points when I've actually walked up to the door and started pressing the button.
Speaker 2:I've never done that. I know that there was gonna go, are you?
Speaker 1:know how many problems when all houses become smart houses and we have the wrong ones for the Maybe before from.
Speaker 1:Yeah, except the BB is not coming from your car, it's coming from my house. Lunch ladies are cool, especially when they're serving ice cream. Well see, these are supposed to be like car thing. We're kind of getting away from the car. Let's see what this has to deal with. Yeah, what was this one got to do with?
Speaker 1:All right, when I was in my early 20s, I was a lunch lady for a high school district, rotating sporadically between four different schools. One of these was a community day school for those unfamiliar. These are schools for students who've been expelled from the regular schools and have behavior and attendance issues. While they were suspicious and wary around me at first, the kids started to warm up to me. Many of the adults they dealt with treated them like prison inmates.
Speaker 1:I tried to talk to them like normal teenagers. For the most part they were, if a bit rough around the edges. I also tried to cut them a break when I could and I rewarded good behavior by giving them extra snacks and the like when I could swing it. In turn, they respected me a little bit. On one notable occasion, a Kid was using some pretty vulgar language while lining up for my cart and his buddy nudged him and said hey, don't swear in front of the nice lunch lady. I didn't mind the swearing, but I was touched by the care. One day I was leaving work for the day and a dace school student spotted me unlocking my car, a bright red Ford Mustang that was at the time only a few years old.
Speaker 2:Hey, lunch lady. Is that your car? Yep, you drive that. You shouldn't drive that. You're a lunch lady.
Speaker 1:What do you mean? It's just my car. In truth, my parents had bought it for me when I turned 16 and learned to drive. It felt like it might be insensitive to say that, considering many of these students come from really poor backgrounds. Often the lunch I serve them was the only meal they ate that day. The student came over and circled my car, visually inspecting it. I was suddenly feeling weird and embarrassed. As silly as it sounds, I always sort of hope the kids would think I was cool. I know it's, it's so dirty. My boyfriend's road is gravel and the dust Nah, it's okay that is dirty.
Speaker 2:When somebody's car is clean, you'd know they don't.
Speaker 1:Uh, two over 50, 55 miles an hour and with that he told me goodbye and walked away. I think maybe he thought I was cool.
Speaker 2:Okay, so this is about our lunch, ladies car? I guess yes there's some.
Speaker 1:I think it's really cool when you see the older adults of a Organization get some credibility, and we see that here. She got a little bit of credibility because she had that red Mustang and she was just trying to connect with the kids and try to help them, so anything like that. I don't know if you've you've ever worked with youth ministry before, but it's such a nice compliment when kids actually start to compliment you. So Hi, yet, oh man, so let's, that's it for now. I think that's pretty good. As far as the car stories, do you have any car funny car stories that you can remember?
Speaker 2:I Asking me to remember. Something's like Telling Dory to remember. That she still has that pair of goggles in our fans.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, that may be.
Speaker 2:I probably do what I can't think of them right this Second.
Speaker 1:Um, let's see if I got any. I would say oh.
Speaker 2:We know you do here's a funny story, okay.
Speaker 1:So One of the first cars I got was a 2004 Ford Focus. Okay, this name. It looks like a bubble. Now I wasn't complaining because it was given to me, lucky. So it was an older car, had miles on it. It was given to me, you know. I didn't care about any problems that it had, because when you're a kid You're just happy to have a car well, it's a Ford, so it's gonna have problems it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it did definitely did, if nothing else the wheel bearings were just trash like the wheel bearings on a Ford Focus are just awful.
Speaker 2:I have some bad experience now.
Speaker 1:They're not super expensive to replace, but it really is irritating. Here's one of the funniest things that happened to us. So if you know anything about the old Ford Focus's, they did have transmission issues and my best friend was in the car one day and him and I are driving and he used to bust out laughing all the time because here's what would happen. We'd pull up to a stop sign and you know how like sometimes as a kid, you wanna gun it and you wanna, like, give it the old lead foot and take off driving.
Speaker 2:You know well, despite I did that accidentally the other day.
Speaker 1:Most four cylinders can do okay. You know you're talking small cars, so they do okay. There's not like a lot of pickup, right, my Ford Focus, you could push the pedal to the ground and it wouldn't go anywhere. You would literally push the gas pedal all the way to the floor, the engine would rev up and it would go ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring and the car would just take off really slowly.
Speaker 2:Yes, I have had that happen to me. I had a Subaru wagon once and did that, I think.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh, it was the funniest thing ever. We would put it. And I hit the floor and my friend is dying laughing because you got this loud and sound of like, hey Joe, watch this. Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring ring and I pull away from the stop sign and I'm going to speak.
Speaker 2:Bro, oh, not under.
Speaker 1:I mean you start out way under, but I was not going anywhere fast. So also as a kid I had to keep my life in mind. I had to watch what I was doing, because with those kind of cars you can't pass. If you're wanting to pass somebody slow, it takes you forever to get around somebody slow because your car does not have the acceleration to go around and you'd be putting your life on the line going around somebody's car.
Speaker 1:Sorry, pretty much. So yeah, that. Needless to say, that's one of the many car stories I have and that car was a lot of fun, though there was a lot of good memories in that car. I also got pulled over in that car for something I didn't do. That was interesting. I got pulled over because I used to work bars and stuff at night and so they automatically thought I was drinking and so they pulled my car over. Problem was I had a bunch of equipment in that little tiny car and I had two big military guys in the car with me who don't do anything wrong themselves.
Speaker 1:So we were three innocent people that got pulled over for like 20 minutes and, mind you, this is after a gig that we just all got done working. It's like three in the morning, we wanna go to sleep, and these guys are out here like do the eye test, do the eye test. And we're like guys, we just wanna go home. Anyway, all's well that ends well. That is my funny story. If you guys have some funny car stories or interesting travel stories, please. Again, we have an Instagram World World Variety show with Matt and Jesse on Instagram and we have a Facebook. Write us at any one of those places, message us, let us know, send us stuff. If you guys got some stories for us, we will get it to you and we'll try to put it on the show.
Speaker 2:I'll make plenty of jokes.
Speaker 1:Speaking of cars, though, are there. I got a question for you, though. Did you have any favorite car racing games growing up as a kid?
Speaker 2:Need for Speed Most Wanted.
Speaker 1:Need for Speed Most Wanted. See, I liked Need for Speed Underground and Most Wanted was probably up there.
Speaker 2:Most Wanted was probably one of my favorites. I didn't like all the specific, like hold on Specific, like absolutely needed things you had to do.
Speaker 1:This is our 90s kid showing up.
Speaker 2:I didn't like the pressure with the tasks in Underground honestly Like here's my thing.
Speaker 1:I didn't like. I didn't really well. First of all, I play a lot of games on easy and normal mode. I don't really like to throw my controller through the window.
Speaker 2:I've never thrown a controller like that.
Speaker 1:So I keep it to like where I can actually play the game. I like the story mode more than anything. Yeah, me too. But with car games, one thing I really loved growing up was I love customization, whether it's adventure, whether it's fantasy, whether it's a character you're creating, whether it's a car that you're working on, I love. And so for a close second or third, I'd say in my top 10 racing games of all time, I'd have to say Need for Speed, carbon, carbon was pretty good.
Speaker 1:Carbon was the sequel to Most Wanted. Took the customization to the next level. Like you could basically customize those cars to the point where your car parts were glitching. What yeah? Like you could make this. You could make the spoiler stupid large. You could make your wheels stupid large. Oh nice, I actually have the save file. So if you want to see some of my glitched out cars, I have like a bunch of glitched out cars, but it was a lot of fun.
Speaker 1:Honestly, they keep recreating all these Need for Speed games. I wish they would make a PS4, ps5 version Of Carbon, of Carbon. That would be phenomenal.
Speaker 2:So if anybody from Need for Speed.
Speaker 1:Hears me on this and I know they listened to our show make a Need for Speed Carbon remake.
Speaker 2:We need that I'd call it Carbon Canyon or something.
Speaker 1:Yeah or add some stuff to it. Like I love when they add more story, like maybe make a DLC for Carbon and you could have a different storyline that you could play through. That would be cool.
Speaker 2:Carbon dating.
Speaker 1:Carbon dating.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, this is playing with the words over here.
Speaker 1:All right. So we're going to do two things in this next section Carbon fiber, because we're talking about gaming. This next section we're gonna look at the past popular games that have made history as indie games, because I like small creators. I'm not really a big fan of EA and these guys up here that are charging boatloads of money for you to just play their games.
Speaker 2:70 OLA games are nuts. Now, dude, it's nuts. I don't know how anybody even keeps up with that anymore.
Speaker 1:It's nuts for one little thing you want to buy for your character.
Speaker 1:That's what they have it now. Ridiculous If you want to get certain things for your character. It's like 50 bucks. Yeah, that's ridiculous. Luckily Assassin's Creed, like Valhalla, most of their stuff is like 10, 15 bucks, five bucks, so they've kept their customization a little lower than EA has. But, like some of this stuff just gets outrageous. Like Fortnite they were saying there's a John Wick skin, I think for Fortnite. Somebody was saying that was $50. If you wanted to be John Wick, I'm like, are you kidding me? Just for a skin.
Speaker 2:So this serious money in games dude?
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, I'm good. So I like these independent creators that create these crazy adventure games with lore and backstory, and these guys are just doing it by themselves. They're making games by themselves and they're making history and it's gone viral. We are going to talk about that next. Music PLAYS. So last week, if you remember, I mentioned to you a game that's actually made history in becoming one of the most viral sensations, and that game is Lethal Company, and Lethal Company only costs $10. So it's not super expensive and it was made by one person.
Speaker 2:But it's PC only, right it is.
Speaker 1:PC only which for a lot of gamers out there. A lot of gamers prefer PC games over console games. Now, if this got famous enough and he got enough money, he could probably make it available for console.
Speaker 2:I have no doubt that that's going to be put on Xbox.
Speaker 1:I hope so, but a lot of indie games don't, until they become worldwide viral. So let's just hope that Lethal Company becomes.
Speaker 2:It's already there.
Speaker 1:It's already viral because it is a genius of a game. If you don't know what Lethal Company is and you live under a rock, this is Lethal Company. You are a working for a company. You're gathering scrap that are left on other planets by other people and aliens and you're trying to make money off of it. So you bring that scrap back to the company, you cash it in and you get cash for doing it. That's the whole game. The funny part about this game is that everything on every planet is trying to kill you. Why is that funny? Because your friends can set you up for pranks. I'm not funny, okay, so let's just put it this way. When you're playing the game, you go down to a world. Not all of you have to be alive to be successful, so in other words, three of you can die. If one of you is still alive and gets down that ship, you keep all your stuff.
Speaker 2:You keep your Yep and everybody responds.
Speaker 1:So that's where the pranks come in, because you can prank each other in doing a whole bunch of stuff and falling for traps and things like that. But as long as one person is still alive and makes it back to the ship and is able to take off, you all still get that money.
Speaker 2:I'm thinking there's something else like that in my eye.
Speaker 1:Now here's the flip side to that. The downside is, if you all die, you go back up and respawn on the ship, but you lose everything you just had.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I hate when that happens.
Speaker 1:So you want to make sure that at least one person in your party either stays with the ship or doesn't die. The amount of funny clips that have come out of lethal company is just insane. This is a worldwide phenomenon at this point and it is hilarious, and one kid made it, and for $10, I mean, come on.
Speaker 2:The memories are priceless. On your computer, well, I don't have Windows. And Wait, that's a Windows. You can't play with that Windows.
Speaker 1:I don't know. See, we read that last time that it was available for Windows only and it was on Steam. So yeah, but if your computer can run Steam, then Maybe, maybe, I don't know, we'll see. I'll look into more of it. I don't know if any of you guys have played it. If you can play it on other things other than Windows, let me know.
Speaker 2:He's got a Macbook Pro.
Speaker 1:But that's the thing. That's the whole basis for lethal company. Lethal company there's a bunch of lore behind it. It was kind of created off the back end of a game called the Backrooms. And the Backrooms went viral and people started creating tons of games for that. And the SCP Foundation went viral. A bunch of people started creating a bunch of games for that. They started linking them. Now there's an actual SCP mod and a Backrooms mod available for lethal company.
Speaker 2:I definitely need to play some of the background games on it. Oh, it's intense.
Speaker 1:It's intense. And then, if you get into the lore of SCP, the whole SCP thing. Once I dove down the rabbit hole of one SCP game what's that? Stand for. I wanted to watch all the SCP games, I think. Let me look up the definition, the actual definition. I'm going to look this up.
Speaker 2:I'm making them do research.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey. This is what we're about on this show.
Speaker 2:The SCP is totally foreign to me. I mostly play Switch. If you dive down the rabbit hole, of what SCP is.
Speaker 1:There's just so much lore to this game. It's insane. The SCP Foundation special containment protocol, I think, Is that right. I'm looking up the wiki food. It's an international secret society consisting of scientific research and paranormal intelligence.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay, so there you go, and what's really cool about it is it's this whole lore of this game about different things that happen within a SCP organization. There's different games about it, different characters, dude, you could Okay, let me put it this way there is a whole score of videos that are hours long talking about the lore of SCP. It's just stupid, it's insane, but it is a lot of fun. So once you dive into one SCP game, you want to see them all. So so that's the thing with the back rooms and SCP. So there's SCP containment breach, which is a phenomenal game. There's escape, the back rooms.
Speaker 1:There's a bunch of different back room games besides that, and there's a whole bunch of other paranormal games that turned out just like lethal company, where it was small time creators, very small time creators, and they just made these simple games that people love Because, it turns out, you don't have to have a lot of money to make a good game. Actually, there's one game, and I don't remember what it was called, but there's one game where this guy created it by himself. It was a linear adventure, but the detail on it was so realistic, dude, that like it made you feel like you were there. It was cool, really, yes. So there you go. Besides lethal company, a lot of games have made history the last few years. We've had among us come out. That's an, that's an indie game that went viral and that was a very simple game concept. There was what was some of the other ones Fall guys. Fall guys came out very again, very simple concepts, kind of like wipe out obstacle courses and mini games like you would see in Mario Party.
Speaker 2:But there's one called sky for online multiplayer. Something sky.
Speaker 1:No one's no man sky. No man sky, no man sky is a spaceship Exploration game and that one has crafting and building elements. It's kind of like some notica you go out, you explore. You get materials the some notica happens on one planet and no man sky happens in the universe. There's tons of planets for you to explore, tons of adventures to go on and tons of crafting that you can do.
Speaker 2:I wonder if subnautica is free yet.
Speaker 1:So probably no, but some notica is pretty cheap, so it's it's definitely worth the play if you get a chance. So, in that respect, we are gonna continue with this gaming news and bring to the audience what is coming up in 2024. We have some indie games coming out in 2024 and we would like to tell you about them in case, in the case that they might just happen to go viral, blow up like crypto. You never know. There's so many creators out here now. There's so many creators, and one of these could just end up taking over the whole thing. So here we go, the very first One that I don't really have a lot. I don't have any info for this one, though. There's one in 2024 Called the gecko gods, and it looks like, from the picture that I'm seeing, it's gonna be available on PC and switch, and From the picture I'm seeing, it looks like you get to be a gecko unless you're Messing with.
Speaker 1:Which could be possible, but I'm telling you from the platform and the art style it looks like you are Sellshading, yeah, like Zelda. Yeah, it does kind of look like that windbreaker art style.
Speaker 2:Well, breath of the water was so she had also, was it okay?
Speaker 1:Oh, could be close to use that a lot of stuff now and especially in that time.
Speaker 1:All right says. If you're looking for a relaxing, puzzle based experience, the gecko gods might just be the one to add your wishlist. Playing as a little gecko, you can explore a mysterious island and make the most of the lizards agile movement to climb cliffs and, yes, even eat, setting out on a quest to save their friend. That gecko gods sees you solve puzzles and Across crumbling ruins and discover the lore of the land as you explore. There's no way we can pass up a chance to play as a little gecko protagonist. I Mean come on, that's like a stray you know we talked about stray to be in an indie game now and make history like stray.
Speaker 1:I love playing this animals stray is where you get to play as a cat, so why not, right, let's play as a gecko? That'd be cool. I'd definitely rather be a animal and a human, and you're gonna see it, people are gonna take those same physics they had in stray and apply it to other games we're gonna have more available to us here pretty soon.
Speaker 2:Here you go this one's interesting, the mermaids tongue. Take it away on PC, xbox series X and PS5.
Speaker 1:I'm just kidding, but he's bummed it's not, I'm not getting.
Speaker 2:I'm not buying a PS5. No way, I keep telling me knees. I'm not doing it. No, all right. The mermaids tongue is a follow-up to the excellent 2019 murder mystery detective game Tangle Tower. I didn't know that, but from developer SFB games, bringing back means loose. Detective Grimoire and Sally, you'll set out with a pair to investigate the murder of Magnus Mortuga, who is the captain of the world's strangest submarine. Strange things are evidently going on with the invention of a possible curse.
Speaker 2:Oh, I like reading as we're hunt for clue, or as you hunt for clues. You'll be able to once again interact with a variety of objects which are an all-now-and-three D and try to complete puzzles as you try to get to the bottom of the case. The free demo currently on steam. The new detective adventure looks to sit, looks set to scratch our gum shoe itch I.
Speaker 1:Like a good mystery game. So the fact this one has mystery and puzzles to it, this is definitely one I would play.
Speaker 2:I Might try that after reading it I'm like, yeah, I might try the gecko one just to like go for adventure.
Speaker 1:But I like mystery games and so you get me sucked into a mystery that's all involved on a submarine. You got to solve the mystery. Yeah, I'm there. There was one recently that was an indie game, where you're in Space and you go around and you make these holograms appear Because there's a whole mystery of why this space station is deserted. You have to go around and like solve clues and kind of gather information around the space station.
Speaker 1:Okay to see what happened to the entire crew. The whole whole place is empty. You're the only one there, so sounds like Valley, oh it was. It was cool. I want to actually play it. I haven't got to play it yet. I think it's available on VR. I really want you to play that, doing what you want. If it's available on VR, I'm gonna get it, because that that would be fun to play. All right, we've got Haunting. Yeah, this looks like a dark Platforming game, as you can see like this.
Speaker 1:I think this might be the character down here PS4, ps4.
Speaker 2:PS5 switch. There we go, there's everything for.
Speaker 1:Haunting is an eye-catching upcoming adventure from developer moon loop games that sees you take on the role of a ghost no way search for answers.
Speaker 1:What makes haunting so unique, though, is it's actually a twin stick shooter that's designed to be taken at a slower pace. Using the twin stick controls to blast past foes, to navigate through obstacles, you can also possess all manner of objects in the world To use or play around with as you puzzle your way through the mysterious setting known as eternity. Stylistically, it looks hauntingly beautiful, and the concept makes this one an adventure to watch out for. Yeah, it does look weird. I Gotta say definitely looks weird. I Would try it. I'd try it Looks weird, but a double stick sure.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I wonder how that's gonna work. A ghost and a shit, you're a ghost and it's a shooting game. I don't know, I gotta check it out. That's kind of really weird.
Speaker 1:Here you go.
Speaker 2:I'd. I think this is I thought this was already out or I already seen it info on it already anyway, little kitty big city.
Speaker 2:I'm pretty sure I've seen stuff about this far Um. Little kitty big city sounds like the perfect adventure to get lost in. As an adorable cat, you can make the city your playground and explore to your heart's content. Hey look, another stray like yeah, it's kind of like stray while you had the goal of trying to find your way home again. You can take everything at your own pace, from making friends with other animals to completing quests and even taking a nap. Developer Double dagger studios. The light full sandbox looks set to have plenty to offer us as we take on the role of a possum protagonist. Oh, and you put hats on the cat. That's very important.
Speaker 1:You put hats on the cat Available on PC, xbox one.
Speaker 2:Xbox series most likely get this on X and S and switch.
Speaker 1:So there you go no ps4, no ps5, that's that's sad. I wanted to be kitty, but I guess I have to play stray All right.
Speaker 2:Maybe that's the trade-off you get stray and we get that.
Speaker 1:Yeah right, stray and little little kitty big city little kitty big city. We'll see where we. As far as our time here, all right, let me do.
Speaker 2:That sounds funny.
Speaker 1:Yeah, ghost bike. Ghost bike is a new adventure from a knee-hawed developer mesh off Plain. As a street wise kid from the free hub city, you set out to bring back ghost bikes, who are said to be magical couriers that rode between the war world of the living and the world of the dead. With races, along With a variety of challenges to take on. You can explore what is described as a semi open world and discover bikes, bike parts to customize your pair of wheels. It looks very stylized, intriguing, and it's an action adventure with a unique concept at its heart. It looks kind of fun. It kind of reminds me of like journey, like the art style, I don't know.
Speaker 2:I don't understand what ps4 would run that it's ps5. It was ps5 yeah it it looks like it would be that.
Speaker 1:It looks like it should be available on xbox 360.
Speaker 2:It looks like a cartoon.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but you know probably the newer games. They're probably only trying to do them for the newer systems. So yeah, all right. Ghost bike interesting. Uh, the picture itself is guy riding on a bike. There's not much to see Like a field. The art style is interesting. Reminds me of a storybook. Uh, little kitty big city Definitely has a piece of bread in his mouth. He has a. He has a piece of bread in his mouth.
Speaker 2:He's like I'm numbing on this I'd definitely be the black cat if it lets you pick.
Speaker 1:And haunti. You guys got to look up the picture. This is from games radar dot com, upcoming to indie games. Haunti is like this black and white weird picture with like gothic art. You got to check it out. Um, so that's interesting. Let's do one more.
Speaker 2:Tracks of thought. Plavarm's PC Tracks of thought from developer tidbits place sees you take on the role of a lost ladybug aboard a train. Things take a strange turn when the train goes through a mysterious tunnel that causes everyone to forget their final destination. Now it's up to you to find out what is Just what is going on and where the train is headed by talking to the passengers. Make use of track of thoughts card based battle of wit system To resolve conflicts on board. The art style looks absolutely delightful and it sounds as though we'll have a good mystery to delve into.
Speaker 1:Okay, there's a few things going on here. First, we have a mystery where everybody on the train forgets their final destination. That sucks. Number two we have a card based battle game. That sounds so weird for the placement, so To figure out and dive through conversations and kind of is said, resolve conflicts. You have to do this. Card based battle game.
Speaker 1:I'm assuming you'd like you have a hand that you go through and each card has a right and then All to solve the mystery of where these people's final destinations are and why they lost their memories. That's a little comp, that's, that's a little complicated, but hey, you know what? Who am I? Let's, let's, uh, that's pretty much. There are a ton more, if you guys want to see this Again. Games, radar, calm. Upcoming indie games. Look for upcoming indie games. Um, there's a lot coming out. I can tell you we didn't even get through half of them. So, uh, you guys can look for them yourself and see what's coming out. Tell us which ones are your favorite and which ones might think might go viral and, uh, lead to a worldwide phenomenon because you never know. You never know nowadays.
Speaker 2:I can see that little kitty big city being. Little kitty, big city, I think anything with animals has a potential to go viral, I think, uh, ghosts have always been pretty much.
Speaker 1:I think the paranormal thing is getting more popular. So we're seeing like we're seeing games like back rooms and scp All this kind of stuff becoming more popular. So I feel like anything with a paranormal aspect Might be a good game, might be fun to play. So, um, especially if they do it right, they make it fun and interesting and in lethal company, they allow pranks and glitches and that's the whole game, like. The funny part is the glitches and the fact that it's not finished.
Speaker 2:I like that one where you showed me it turned. You turned all the crew member and women. That was great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's, there's mods.
Speaker 1:There's mods for everything from changing your character To the suits. They have mods for different items you can pick up for your spaceship. You can customize your spaceship that you all work on. You can change the worlds. They actually drop down into a SCP world. They dropped into a christmas town, so one of them was a christmas town they dropped into Another one was a beach paradise.
Speaker 2:They dropped a beach paradise.
Speaker 1:There's all kinds of stuff, so guys go check it out. Lethal company is honestly, I think game of the year. I think lethal company is gonna be game of the year, because it's just so much that you can do with it and people are just having so much fun. Um, the last thing that we're going to talk about is we have a special miami update for y'all. So last week we talked about the events of the miami incident. Yeah, and what was going on in miami?
Speaker 2:because nobody knows nephal aliens and uh nephal aliens. So that's what I'm going to call now we are going to give you an update right after this.
Speaker 1:All right, and we're back. Yeah, take a break from your windbreaker game, the windbreaker game wasn't it windbreaker, wind waker dude oh See, that comes from the trauma of playing so many zoda games. You start to forget which title is which?
Speaker 2:My favorite one was one of my least favorite.
Speaker 1:I mean the one that I grew up with, was lakarita time that was the one dude.
Speaker 2:I didn't even beat that dolls on a ball, I still haven't.
Speaker 1:I'm still, I'm still exploring, bro, like there's so much to do in that game and and they don't give you a whole lot of clues on where to go next.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but you got the internet now.
Speaker 1:Yes, but if you save the game and then you go back into the game, you can't remember where you're supposed to go for your next mission, like say, oh, you were on lava mountain right, the big mountain death mountain.
Speaker 1:So Say, you were on death mountain and you go back down because you forgot what you were supposed to do and you're in hyrule field. And you come back as an adult and you're like I'm in hyrule field, what do I do now? It doesn't show you where to go. Bro, there's no like hey, you should go back to death mountain. So I'm lost exploring because I merely forgot what I was supposed to be doing.
Speaker 2:I think that happened to me too, when I was kid.
Speaker 1:So I feel like I should start over one more time, because this is the second time that I've started over, and I feel like I should start the game over one more time as an adult, just to play through it.
Speaker 2:What I always struggled with was a water temple. That was the worst to me, yeah that was.
Speaker 1:That's a brutal.
Speaker 2:That was literally what I struggled with. I think too, water tumble is hard.
Speaker 1:Well, the spirit one is pretty bad too. Climbing up the mountain for the first time is pretty difficult.
Speaker 2:If you're not, if you're not sure what you mean, the wall like to get to the great fairy and whatnot.
Speaker 1:Just up the mountain, like what the meteor is coming, like the ash. It's a little difficult, especially if you don't know what to do right away.
Speaker 2:I've not been very good at water Stuff, so water temple, the water.
Speaker 1:It's like you run out of time, so it's like you're trying to get somewhere and if you get lost.
Speaker 2:Well, that too, but yeah.
Speaker 1:If you get lost? Like any water game, if you get lost. I got a living amount of breath Food that's why, when we got older and they started making games, uh, with the breath being like you could get an upgrade and then you wouldn't have trouble breathing underwater. I love that. So like when I get a game and and like one of the upgrades you can buy eventually is like the breather.
Speaker 1:So you can stay underwater and explore. Love that. Love that more games need that, because a lot of these games have secrets underwater and you want to take time to explore.
Speaker 2:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1:Um horizon. Good example Horizon went underwater and horizon Yep. And the second game, half of the game is underwater.
Speaker 2:I never played that whole thing.
Speaker 1:So there's a big section of the second game that's underwater, so you can get a rebreather and actually spend as much time as you want underwater at one point.
Speaker 2:Well, yeah, I think I remember you swimming, but I didn't remember you going underneath.
Speaker 1:Yep, I love it. I love it. It's one of my favorite games of all time. It's horizon, I don't care what anybody says. Moving on, we have an update that you have all been waiting for. What happened with the miami mall incident? What is going on? So, if you remember, last time we talked about a couple videos that came out. First of all, the crazy amount of cop cars that showed up.
Speaker 1:Second, the rumors that were coming out. So the basically the main rumors are number one bunch of cities, or bunch of cities, bunch of kids with fireworks Made it sound like gunshots. This is the practical explanation. Okay, um, so people thought it was gang violence or somebody thought it was gunshots. That's the practical explanation and that is the one that, weirdly enough, everybody is going with. Second explanation People saw creatures, 10 foot tall creatures.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Appear at some point during this whole hoopla. Third explanation is kids were messing with the box.
Speaker 2:And this box one right.
Speaker 1:Uh it, it came along with the other two, but people didn't talk about it as much until witness testimonies came out.
Speaker 1:Okay the third one is these kids were messing with the box and this portal opened up Is what they're calling it. That's pretty creepy, pretty creepy. Um, which begs the question what is going on? So we have a couple updates for you. I have showed the video. If you want to see some of these videos, check out the YouTube channel.
Speaker 1:Art of Kicks Good guy, he's got some fun videos on conspiracies, fun videos on TikTok theories, and he's a no BS kind of guy. So if it's something that's fake, he'll call it out, which is why I like Art of Kicks, because he's a pretty common sense guy. He likes the paranormal, but he's not gonna say something is real when it isn't. So like if he's watching a video and it's clearly AI, he's not gonna sit there and say it's real. He's gonna be ticked off and say, hey, this is BS. He's got some videos with some updates. Now, one of the videos that you can watch is two witness testimonies which I showed you, jess. You remember those? Yes, there were two witness testimonies and both of them saw the same thing, which is interesting because these guys don't know each other. Two complete strangers, two complete strangers don't know each other. Different situations.
Speaker 2:You know they're not lying or fabricating.
Speaker 1:There's got to be a commonality here. Right now there's many more witnesses came out. Some of them said they were trolling. Some people think that they're being shut up by cops, which is entirely possible. We'll get to that in a second. They don't do that apparently. Yeah, it's the cover up tactic, right. Two witnesses said that they saw nine to ten foot creatures phasing in and out of our reality, kind of like a cloaking device glitching. One of them said it was like a wavy effect. You know, like when you're watching TV the picture goes out and it kind of creates that wave. Yeah, that shows my age, but yeah, like Mirage, like yeah. So something strange about that. There's also something strange about all these witnesses coming forward and saying all this stuff that lines up with everybody else and then a bunch of people saying they were trolling. And when you look at the videos on TikTok you can just tell that when they say they're trolling they're not being sincere, like when they're when they're what, when they're talking about that cop supposedly that you were talking about.
Speaker 1:No, that was before this there's another guy that said there was. There was a third guy that said they had a testimony like the ones that we watched. Yeah, same exact situation. He had a testimony like that.
Speaker 1:Okay and then he comes out later on and says he's trolling. Here's the difference. The first video that you watch, it looks like he's telling the truth. The second video, when he says he's trolling, he didn't look serious at all. Like he didn't look like he's telling the truth, like something's off about it, and a lot of people pointed that out the same guy did yeah. So this third guy who did that? A lot of people are saying that's videos being weird and that cops are possibly shutting people up. Who knows, we don't know. But what I do know is there are a lot of weird TikToks coming out involving the cops. Which why would the cops use TikTok? I don't understand. No, but they're using TikTok to try to convince people that there were no aliens. There was no, none of that. But that also seems weird. So why did 70 cop cars show up for?
Speaker 2:one there's. I see no reason why there should be 70 cop cars.
Speaker 1:Like the whole city. It's literally the whole city of cop cars.
Speaker 2:It seemed like the whole city. There's no reason to send that many for something as simple as kids and we have firecrackers or whatever.
Speaker 1:I don't understand it. Maybe we will never understand it because unless somebody comes out with video of it, which could be possible, but at this point a lot of people are saying the cops are they probably were grabbing.
Speaker 1:They were taking people's phones and they were erasing evidence and a lot of people said they couldn't use their phones at the time of the event. Like there was electrical interference. Also, the airport was closed down. That's been confirmed that the airport was closed down at the time of this event. I don't know, but like it just doesn't make sense.
Speaker 2:No, and then I bet you cop took all the phones that had anything on them.
Speaker 1:There were people saying that there were cops making sure they didn't have anything on their phones, which was kind of weird for the whole situation. I mean for it to be just a street fight or street gang or even fireworks. Why would they do that? That makes sense. The fact that they're doing that.
Speaker 2:You know something's wrong.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So something's weird about this whole thing. Nobody knows what it is. Nobody's saying that aliens are real, nobody's saying that. It's just weird that we have this whole situation of cops interfering in this way that they did.
Speaker 2:And why would they be interfering when the government supposedly said they admitted that aliens are real? I don't know, I don't know. Wouldn't they want us to find out?
Speaker 1:Yeah, because if you look at the government and the way they're doing things, they're kind of easing us into this whole alien thing, like telling us oh well, ufos are now real, so why wouldn't? They want us to know at this point, I think it's like wouldn't it be part of their plan? They?
Speaker 2:know we're gonna join with the aliens. That's what.
Speaker 1:Another thing that was strange. Another thing that was strange was people saying that the cops already had a plan of what they were doing when they got there. So think about this when you get a, when you get a cop call or reaction, normally it's one to one to three cops, right, I think? So, yeah, they might have somewhat of a plan, but they're not gonna know what they're dealing with until they get there, right? Yeah, why would all the witness testimonies say that all 70 cops seemed to know what they were doing when they got there?
Speaker 2:Well, obviously one of the Nephalalians was a snitch.
Speaker 1:I don't know. So here's the other weird thing People are speculating about the coordinates. So let's go with the theory that maybe it was aliens. If you take the coordinates of the Miami Mall and you reverse them people have revealed this that it you end up in the middle of Antarctica. What so? A lot of people are speculating that if that portal was real, they were supposed to end up in Antarctica instead of. Well, is the Miami.
Speaker 2:Mall Fairly people, if there are any.
Speaker 1:That's the whole point. There's been a long time conspiracy theory about aliens going to Antarctica. It's it's been that that's one of the oldest conspiracy theories in the book. So they're speculating that if the portal did open up, like people say it did, that they ended up lost and showed up in the Miami Mall when they should have been in Antarctica. So we have all this coming up right. One person well, probably not more than one person, but one person that we know of has decided to take this into his own hands. A friend of Art of Kicks decided to do his own investigation into the Miami Mall and go down there right now. He is down there at this moment investigating and this is him right.
Speaker 2:And this is him.
Speaker 1:It's called gosh TV. Omar gosh, omar gosh, I saw that name.
Speaker 1:I'm a gosh TV genius name, by the way and he is going down there and investigate themselves. We have this, we have this movie, this video. I'm not going to show it, but I wanted to show, just kind of like, what he did. So he went down there and he decided he was going to do his own investigation. So he went around the mall and tried to find the spots of where these pictures and videos that people are saying, yeah, were located. He debunked two videos and you can see it online if you go to Art of Kicks or Omar gosh TV, go check it out.
Speaker 1:He debunked two videos that people were saying were real, that were not real, because the Miami Mall, if you didn't know, is an outside mall. It is not inside and the videos that people were saying were from the Miami Mall, isn't it Supposedly have an inside, were inside and they were not outside. This is an outside mall with an overhead roof. It's got an overhead roof but it looks nothing like the video. So he debunks those two videos. Long story short, he does wander around, he tries to get some evidence. He doesn't get what he needs, but you'll see it is a very interesting video, so I advise everybody to check it out, he also tries this recorder. Now, funny story about this recorder. This recorder looks like something you would see like a tape recorder.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I thought that was a little iPod or something Right right, right, this recorder costs $3,000.
Speaker 1:What? Because, apparently this recorder device is wanted among many paranormal investigators. Because this kind of recorder device picks up other voices. Dvp.
Speaker 2:Essentially.
Speaker 1:So this thing if you look it up online, you can't get any of these for less than $3,000.
Speaker 2:That's insane man.
Speaker 1:So he runs, this recorder Doesn't get a lot of evidence. I will tell you there's a little bit. You can kind of decide whether or not for yourself if it was real or not. He gets a little bit, but not a lot of evidence. What he's doing, though, on the next video that he's recording is he's going to try to go in there and actually interview people that were there on his next video to see if he can get some more information, because everything about this whole situation is just too weird. It doesn't add up. Why would they need that many cops for just fireworks and that's what I said, man.
Speaker 2:That doesn't make any sense, even if it, let's say, worst case scenario If it was gunshots right? Yeah, yeah, I don't think it. 3-10 people with guns?
Speaker 1:No, you could probably get 10 cops tops and the whole situation would be resolved. There's no way so.
Speaker 2:I bet they had at least feared a little. They heard aliens and they're like, oh okay, we gotta go and force it.
Speaker 1:I mean, if you got 30 or 40 people reporting that there are aliens at the small they need at least 50 to 70 cops.
Speaker 2:Yeah, something's up, so they gotta outmatch the people, right? We don't know what it is.
Speaker 1:I don't know if we'll ever get an answer at this point, because everything was so covered up and they won't even talk about it? Yeah, they won't even talk about the airport.
Speaker 2:Nobody will talk about the airport.
Speaker 1:They're pretending like it didn't happen, they're pretending like it didn't happen. Everybody that had a flight that asked why this happened, why they shut the airport down. They won't say what. They won't convey to them.
Speaker 2:Did that guy go to the airport?
Speaker 1:No, but that would be a cool place to investigate, like why did the airport shut down at the same time too? Now what he is doing for his next video, like I said, is he's interviewing people that were there. He's gonna try to get a hold of shop owners, see if he can get a hold of any security footage. Good, guaranteed he won't get any security footage because the cops would have had it by now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're not gonna let a random person take that, but it would be interesting to see if it gets some people that were there and what they say.
Speaker 1:So we will find out, and as soon as we find out we will give you another update on what is going on, because everybody's writing this off as some teen violence. This just doesn't add up to me.
Speaker 2:I wish people weren't so afraid. Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1:But, until then we're not gonna have any answers, so that is how it's a great segment. That is how we're gonna end it, bro. That's how we're gonna end it.
Speaker 2:We're gonna end it on a disappointment.
Speaker 1:That's all I got for you, no more like a cliffhanger.
Speaker 1:Because we can. As soon as this guy has a video up, we will watch it and we will see what's going on. He is investigating right now, so that means he could be getting a hold of people to date. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh, we will see what happened. Yeah, so keep it. You know, if you guys want to see it, go online, find it, do your own research, make your own conclusions. But to us this doesn't make sense. Nothing about this incident makes sense at all.
Speaker 2:And we're, we're, we're invested already.
Speaker 1:Maybe too much, but oh well, look, we dove down this panel, we're already in the hole.
Speaker 2:Okay, keep exploring.
Speaker 1:Alright, so that is it from World War variety. We are so happy you guys joined us for today's show, if you listened up to this point. Thank you so much. You guys are the best.
Speaker 2:Thanks for watching with your ears.
Speaker 1:Thank you for watching with your ears and from the WWV. Be weird, keep it weird, everybody. Thank you Later.
Speaker 2:Bye.
